Apply to the Outbound Youth Exchange

Step 1: Connect with a Local Lions Club

Each applicant must be referred and sponsored by a local Arizona Lions Club.

Students and families should:

• Identify a Lions Club in their community

• Request referral and sponsorship support

• Discuss funding options, including full, partial, or scholarship sponsorship

Arizona Lions Youth Exchange strongly encourages Lions Clubs to support underserved, academically responsible youth whenever possible.

Step 2: Prepare Required Materials

Applicants should be prepared to submit the following materials:

• Completed application form

• Letter of interest describing why the applicant wishes to represent Arizona through an international exchange

• Letter(s) of reference from a school counselor, administrator, teacher, or non‑related youth leader

• Parent or guardian signature (required, even for applicants over 18)

Step 3: Host Family Introduction

Applicants will prepare a personal introduction for their potential host family, which may include:

• Family and cultural background

• School experiences and future goals

• Extracurricular activities and volunteer service

• Photos (optional)

This introduction helps host families better understand the applicant and supports successful placement.

Step 4: Passport & Travel Readiness

Applicants must be eligible to obtain a U.S. passport.

Applications may be submitted while a passport is in process, provided it is obtained by the required pre‑departure deadline.

Application Submission

Completed applications are submitted through Arizona Lions Youth Exchange using the designated application form and instructions.
